Myrtle Beach Marathon
The Myrtle Beach Marathon is one of the most popular road races on the East Coast, held each February along a flat, fast course that runs right along the oceanfront. Whether you're running or cheering, it's a great reason to be in Myrtle Beach in the off-season.
The Race
The event includes a full marathon, half marathon, 5K, and a kids' fun run. The course takes runners along Ocean Boulevard with ocean views for much of the route. February weather on the Grand Strand is mild compared to most of the country — usually in the 50s and 60s, which makes for good running conditions.
Getting There from Ocean Lakes
Ocean Lakes is about 10 minutes from the start line near the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Parking fills up early on race morning, so plan to leave the campground by 6am if you're running. Golf carts stay inside Ocean Lakes, so you'll need a car or rideshare for the trip.
Spectating
The oceanfront course makes it easy to cheer from multiple spots. Ocean Boulevard and the Boardwalk area are the best places to watch. Grab a coffee and find a spot near the finish line for the best atmosphere.
Tips
- Register early — the half marathon sells out months in advance
