Murrells Inlet Marshwalk
The Murrells Inlet Marshwalk is a half-mile boardwalk lined with restaurants, bars, and views over the salt marsh. Murrells Inlet calls itself the Seafood Capital of South Carolina, and the stretch of waterfront here backs that up — it's one of the best spots on the coast for fresh seafood and a cold drink at sunset.
What to Do
Most people come to eat. The restaurants along the walk range from casual dockside spots to sit-down seafood houses, and nearly all of them have outdoor seating over the water. After dinner, it's an easy stroll along the boardwalk to watch the boats come in and the marsh light change as the sun goes down. There's also a public boat landing if you want to get out on the water.
Where to Eat
A few names worth knowing: Wicked Tuna, Dead Dog Saloon, and Drunken Jack's are local favorites that have been on the walk for years. Most places don't take reservations, so expect a wait on weekend evenings in summer — put your name in and walk the boardwalk while you wait.
Getting There from Ocean Lakes
About 15 minutes south on US-17. Parking is free in the lots along the marshwalk. It fills up on busy nights, so arriving before 6pm helps.
