Myrtle Beach Boardwalk

The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk runs 1.2 miles along the ocean between 2nd Avenue Pier and 14th Avenue North. It's one of the most walkable stretches on the Grand Strand, with the ocean on one side and a mix of arcades, restaurants, and shops on the other.

What to Do

Walk or bike the boardwalk any time of day. The SkyWheel at the north end is hard to miss — it's one of the tallest Ferris wheels on the East Coast and worth the ride for the view. The piers are good for fishing or just watching the waves. In the evenings, there's usually live music and street performers scattered along the strip.

Shops & Stops Worth Knowing

Gay Dolphin Gift Cove — A Myrtle Beach institution since 1946. Five floors of souvenirs, shells, and beach novelties right on the boardwalk.

Wings Beach Store — Beach gear, swimwear, and anything you forgot to pack. One of the most recognizable shops on the Grand Strand.

Kilwin's — Hand-crafted fudge, chocolates, and ice cream. The waffle cone smell alone is worth stopping for.

Pavilion Nostalgia Park — Classic carnival rides and games, a nod to the original Myrtle Beach Pavilion that stood here for decades.

Peaches Corner — A boardwalk staple since 1937. Hot dogs, burgers, and cold drinks. No frills, just good food at a fair price.

Getting There from Ocean Lakes

About 10 minutes north by car. Paid parking is available nearby, or park a few blocks back and walk down. It's not a golf cart trip.

Best Time to Go

Early morning is peaceful and great for a walk. Evenings in summer are lively but crowded. If you want the view from the SkyWheel without a long wait, go on a weekday.
