The Market Common
The Market Common is a walkable, open-air district in Myrtle Beach built on the grounds of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. It has a mix of shops, restaurants, a movie theater, and green space, and it feels noticeably different from the rest of the strip — quieter, more neighborhood-like, and easy to spend a few hours in.
What's There
The retail mix includes national brands alongside local boutiques. On the restaurant side, you'll find everything from casual lunch spots to sit-down dinners. There's also a Barnes & Noble, a bowling alley, and a Cinemark theater if you want a low-key evening in. The central park area has a lake with a walking path, and the whole district is designed for strolling.
Good to Know
The Market Common is about a mile from the beach, so it's not a beach destination — it's a good option for a morning out, a rainy afternoon, or when someone in the group wants a break from the sun. Parking is free and easy throughout the district.
Getting There from Ocean Lakes
Less than 10 minutes north on US-17. It's one of the closest off-campground options from Ocean Lakes, which makes it a convenient stop for groceries, a meal, or an evening out.
