Golf Myrtle Beach, sleep at Ocean Lakes: two 3BR homes

If you want three bedrooms, a short walk to the Atlantic, and a golf cart sitting under the house when you arrive, there are two homes here to compare: the Pet-Friendly Ocean Lakes Beach House with the elevator and limo golf cart, and the Ocean View house that sits sixth from the beach. Both are three-bedroom, two-bath single-family homes inside Ocean Lakes Family Campground. Both sleep six. From there they diverge in ways that will probably decide it for you within a paragraph.

Worth knowing first: Prestwick Country Club, a Pete and P.B. Dye course, sits about a mile from Ocean Lakes, off Highway 544 just west of the main entrance. It plays a shade over 7,000 yards from the tips, 74.7 rating, 138 slope. Tupelo Bay is a couple of miles out, Indigo Creek and Whispering Pines a few miles beyond. Basing a golf trip here means a short drive in the morning and the ocean in the afternoon, which is not the trade most Grand Strand golf lodging offers.

The elevator house, and why golfers end up liking it

Guests book this one for the dog and then write about the elevator. It runs from the ground up into the house, so clubs, coolers, groceries and luggage go up in one trip instead of four hauls up a staircase after a dawn tee time. Anyone who has carried a staff bag up the stairs of a raised beach house at ten at night understands the appeal.

It's our highest-reviewed three-bedroom, rated 9.94 across 64 reviews, and the kitchen gets mentioned almost as often as the elevator. Two queens and a full, two full baths, sleeping six. The cart here is a limo-style one, which matters more than it sounds: six people and a day's worth of beach gear fit in a single run to the sand.

It's the only one of the two that takes pets. Ocean Lakes keeps a fenced dog park and DIY wash stations, and the covered porch at this house has a locking gate, so the dog can be outside with you without being watched every second. Downstairs there's a hangout area with an outdoor TV, cornhole and the grill, which is where a golf group tends to end up at six in the evening with the scorecards.

Sixth house from the beach, two king beds

The other three-bedroom trades the elevator for position and beds. It's the sixth house from the beach, with partial ocean views off a deep private deck, and two of the three bedrooms have king beds. The third is a twin-over-twin bunk room.

Two kings is the detail that decides this for a lot of groups. Four adults travelling together, two couples, or a father-and-son pair with the grandparents along: nobody draws straws for the good mattress. The bunk room handles a couple of kids or a teenager who doesn't care. Six people, two full baths, and a kitchen with an island and stainless appliances.

The deck is the real argument for it. There's a fire pit and a hammock, the ocean is audible, and being six houses off the sand means you can walk down for sunrise with a coffee and be back before anyone else is up. No pets here. Every guest who has reviewed it has given it a 10, though it has fewer reviews than the elevator house.

Picking between them

  • Bringing the dog: only the elevator house takes pets.

  • Four adults who all want a proper bed: the ocean view house, with its two kings.

  • Anyone who struggles with stairs, or a lot of gear: the elevator house. If someone has a specific mobility need, call and describe it to us rather than trusting a listing checkbox.

  • Closest to the water: the ocean view house, sixth from the sand, with a deck you'll actually use.

  • Evenings outdoors: both work. One has the downstairs setup with cornhole and the outdoor TV, the other the fire pit and the hammock.

If six beds isn't enough

Golf groups have a habit of growing between the first text message and the deposit. Two houses are worth knowing about if yours does.

The Crab Shack is still three bedrooms but sleeps ten, renovated, ocean views, steps from the beach, cart included. If you have eight or ten players who'll happily share rooms the way they did in college, it's the efficient answer and keeps you in a three-bedroom footprint.

If that's too tight, The Deep Blue is five bedrooms sleeping twelve, 192 steps from the beach in the quieter southern end of Ocean Lakes, with three full baths and a half. Twelve golfers, two king rooms, and enough bathrooms that a 7:20 tee time doesn't turn into a queue. Every guest who has reviewed it has given it a 10.

Why staying inside the campground changes the trip

Most Myrtle Beach golf packages put you in a villa beside a course, which is fine until the non-golfers in the party want something to do. Ocean Lakes solves that differently. You're inside a gated campground with nearly a mile of Atlantic beachfront and twenty beach accesses, a water park, a game center, oceanfront basketball, sand volleyball, shuffleboard, horseshoes, fishing, a skate park, bike rentals, and the Sandy Harbor Café in the Camptown Center for lunch nobody has to drive to. The people not playing have a full day without a car.

The cart matters here more than anywhere else. Ocean Lakes is big, and the cart is how you move: to the beach with the chairs, to Sandy Mart, to the game center at nine at night. Drivers need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and campground cart rules apply.

Plan around one thing if you're coming between now and spring 2027. The original indoor pool, the original outdoor pool and the mini golf closed in September 2026 while Ocean Lakes builds a much larger aquatic facility, with indoor body slides, a children's splash pool, an expanded game center and a resort-style outdoor pool with cabanas, targeted for Memorial Day weekend 2027. The seasonal Sandy Harbor Water Park is separate and runs its own schedule. Check current operating hours before you travel.

Eating, and the short drive to Murrells Inlet

You'll have a full kitchen and a grill at either house, and groups playing 36 a day tend to use them. When nobody wants to cook, the cluster just outside the gates in Surfside Beach is close enough to be easy: the Bar-B-Que House, Omega Pancake House for an early breakfast before a morning round, Saltaire Coastal Kitchen, Bubba's Fish Shack, Pirate's Table for the Calabash buffet.

Worth one evening: drive south to the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, a half-mile boardwalk along a saltwater estuary lined with seafood restaurants and live music. The Hot Fish Club is down that way. It's about eight miles, and it's the best dinner within easy reach.

Beyond that, Myrtle Beach State Park is the nearest stretch of quiet coastline with fishing and trails, and The Market Common, the Boardwalk and SkyWheel, Broadway at the Beach and Brookgreen Gardens are all a reasonable drive north or south.

Before you book

Dates first. Three-bedroom homes inside Ocean Lakes are the size most groups want, and spring and fall golf weeks move early. Send us your dates and we'll tell you what's actually open.

We manage these homes ourselves, we're licensed and on site, and booking direct means you're talking to the person who knows which house you're walking into, what the parking looks like under it, and whether the cart is charged. Vehicles entering Ocean Lakes need a campground pass, handled separately from your rental, and we'll walk you through it when you reserve.

If you're torn between the two three-bedrooms featured here, tell us who's in the group and whether the dog is coming. That usually settles it in one reply. And if neither fits, we have five more three-bedroom homes at Ocean Lakes, so there's likely one that does.
