Three-bedroom homes for a mini golf trip to Myrtle Beach

Short answer: we have seven three-bedroom homes inside Ocean Lakes Family Campground, ranging from cozy six-person cottages to houses that sleep ten. Several come with a complimentary golf cart, and they suit genuinely different families. A few worth knowing about: the Ocean View Ocean Lakes 3BR, sixth house from the beach, with two king bedrooms and a twin-over-twin bunk room. The Pet-Friendly Ocean Lakes Beach House, which has a private elevator, allows your dog, and runs on two queens plus a full. And The Crab Shack, a three-bedroom that sleeps ten, which is a different animal entirely.
One thing you should know before you book anything, because almost nobody searching for mini golf and Ocean Lakes in the same breath knows it yet: the campground's own Sandy Harbor Mini Golf course has closed. Ocean Lakes pulled it down to make room for the new aquatic facilities, and they've said they intend to rebuild the course somewhere else inside the campground. Plenty of listing sites and travel pages still advertise the 18 holes as if you can play them this afternoon. You can't. If putt-putt is the reason for the trip, plan on playing it outside the gate.
Where you actually play putt-putt around here
Myrtle Beach treats miniature golf as a serious architectural discipline, and the courses are clustered along Kings Highway north of the campground. Captain Hook's Adventure Golf runs a pair of 18-hole courses on North Kings Highway with a Peter Pan theme, pirates through to Tinkerbell. Mt. Atlanticus Minotaur Golf, also on North Kings Highway, is the tiki-and-water-features one, two 18-hole courses planted heavily enough that you lose sight of the road.
From the Ocean Lakes gate, both sit north on Highway 17 in the stretch of Myrtle Beach that includes the Boardwalk and the SkyWheel, which is about ten to fifteen minutes up the road depending on how summer traffic is behaving. Broadway at the Beach, with Ripley's Aquarium inside it, is in the same direction, another quarter hour on. That geography is worth planning around: a mini golf round, dinner, and the Boardwalk all live in the same part of town, so you're better off making one long evening of it than driving up three separate times.
Hours and seasonal schedules at the individual courses shift, so check before you load everyone in the car. Nothing worse than arriving at a dark course with four kids holding putters they haven't got yet.
Two three-bedroom houses, two different families
Several of our three-bedroom homes that sleep six include a complimentary golf cart for licensed drivers twenty-five and older, both have a fully equipped kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, a washer, and both get you into the campground's beach, playgrounds, basketball, volleyball, fishing and bike rentals. After that they diverge sharply.
The Ocean View Ocean Lakes 3BR is the sixth house from the sand, with partial ocean views from a covered deck and enough outdoor seating that you'll eat out there most nights. The sleeping plan is the thing: two king bedrooms and a twin-over-twin bunk room, which is a very specific answer to a very specific trip. Two couples travelling together, or grandparents plus parents plus a couple of kids, and nobody is drawing straws over a full bed. There's a hammock and a fire pit outside. It's a thousand square feet, two full bathrooms, and the ratings on it are perfect so far across a small number of stays.
The Pet-Friendly Ocean Lakes Beach House solves different problems. It has a private elevator, which sounds like a novelty until you've carried a cooler, four beach bags and a sleeping toddler up a flight of exterior stairs at four in the afternoon. Guests mention the elevator more than anything else about the house. It's also listed as wheelchair accessible and keeps a stair gate and a crib, and it's the one that takes your dog: there's a pet relief area and a locking gate on the covered porch. Two queens and a full across three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a limo-style golf cart instead of the standard four-seater, and a downstairs hangout with an outdoor TV and cornhole. Sixty-four reviews in and it sits just shy of a perfect score, which for a house this busy is unusual.
If six beds isn't enough bodies
Three bedrooms doesn't have to mean six people. The Crab Shack is a newly renovated three-bedroom, two-bathroom house steps from the beach with ocean views, and it sleeps ten. For a family reunion where everyone's happy to share rooms, or a group of cousins who will be in the water from nine until six and only use the house for sleeping and sandwiches, it's considerably better value than spreading across more bedrooms you won't be in.
Worth being honest about the trade: ten people and two bathrooms means mornings have a queue. If your group includes several adults who all want a shower before the day starts, step up to something like the Ocean View Ocean Lakes 4BR, which puts three queen bedrooms and a twin-over-full bunk room behind three full bathrooms. Parking under that house is tight, though, so if you're arriving in something large, use the extra space along the side.
Why staying inside the campground changes the trip
Our homes all sit inside Ocean Lakes, which gives you nearly a mile of Atlantic beachfront and twenty separate beach accesses. The practical effect is that the beach stops being an expedition. You don't pack for it. Kids walk down, come back for lunch, walk down again.
The golf cart is the other half of it. Most of our homes include one free with the stay, and within about a day the evening cart ride becomes the thing everybody looks forward to. You'll use it for the Sandy Harbor Game Center, the oceanfront playgrounds, the sports courts, the fishing spots and Sandy Mart more than you'll use your car. Bike rentals, a skate park, a nature center over on Magnolia Lake, and a rolling calendar of seasonal activities mean the campground can absorb a rainy day or a day when nobody feels like driving north.
What you should check before you book is what's running. Ocean Lakes closed its original indoor pool, original outdoor pool and the mini golf course in September 2026 to build a much larger indoor aquatic facility with body slides and a children's splash pool, a resort-style outdoor pool with cabanas, an expanded game center and new food service, all targeted for Memorial Day weekend 2027. The separate Sandy Harbor Water Park, with the Adventure River, the Tube slide, the Drop Zone mat racer, Splash Zone and the Tad Pool, runs on its own seasonal schedule. If you're coming between now and that reopening, build the trip around the beach and the off-site attractions rather than the pools.
How we'd run a putt-putt week from here
Mornings belong to the beach, because the sand is cooler and the parking question doesn't exist when you're walking. Afternoons are for Sandy Harbor if it's open, or the game center and the courts if it isn't. Mini golf is an evening activity in Myrtle Beach and always has been: the courses light up, the heat drops, and the drive north on Kings Highway lines up with dinner.
Pair the putt-putt run with one other thing in the same direction and you've bought yourself a proper night out. The Boardwalk and SkyWheel sit along the oceanfront at the north end, a bit over a mile of shops, arcades and restaurants. Broadway at the Beach is further in, with Ripley's Aquarium, which is the single best answer to a thunderstorm we know of. Southward instead, Murrells Inlet's MarshWalk follows the water through the old fishing village and gets going properly around dinner, and Brookgreen Gardens sits beyond it for a day that isn't about sand. The Market Common, closer in, has a movie theatre and bowling alongside the restaurants.
Allow one full day where nobody leaves Ocean Lakes. Every family we host thinks they'll fill the week with attractions, and most of them end up spending a day doing nothing but the beach, the cart and cornhole in the driveway.
Booking it
We're a family-owned, licensed property manager on site, and the fastest way to get a straight answer on whether a specific house is free for your dates is to book direct with us. Rates, minimum stays and availability move with the season, and the only reliable version is a live check. Note that Ocean Lakes requires a vehicle pass for every car entering the campground: that's charged separately by the campground, and completing their Express Check-In at least a couple of weeks ahead gets you a small daily discount on it.
If you tell us how many adults, how many children, whether the dog is coming and whether stairs are a problem, we can tell you in one message which of the three-bedrooms is right for you. On the evidence above, it's usually the king beds that decide it, or the elevator.
