Three-bedroom beach houses for a show-night trip

If the plan is dinner shows and theatre nights, the useful answer is short: the three-bedroom house to look at in our portfolio is The Crab Shack, a renovated three-bedroom, two-bath home a few steps from the sand inside Ocean Lakes Family Campground, with ocean views and a complimentary golf cart. It sleeps ten, which is the part most people don't expect from a three-bedroom, and it's the reason it books the way it does.

The rest of this page is about whether three bedrooms is actually the right ask for your group, and how a house inside the campground works when you're out most evenings.

Why a three-bedroom here sleeps more than you'd think

Three bedrooms in a Myrtle Beach condo usually means six or eight people. In Ocean Lakes the arithmetic is different because these are single-family houses, not stacked units, and the bedrooms are built for families who travel together. The Crab Shack's three bedrooms carry up to ten guests, newly renovated, with the beach close enough that nobody treats a swim as an outing.

That changes the question. If you're a group of eight or nine heading out to a show most nights, you don't necessarily need a bedroom per couple, you need beds and bathrooms and somewhere to park the carts. But if what you want is three bedrooms for the privacy rather than the capacity, say so when you call: a four-bedroom here sometimes prices and sleeps closer to what you actually had in mind than the three-bedroom does.

Two more worth knowing, because they solve different problems with the same bedroom count in mind:

  • The fourth house from the beach is a two-bedroom that sleeps eight, with ocean views and a cart included. Fewer bedrooms, the shortest walk to the water we have, and the right call for a group that cares more about where the house sits than how the sleeping splits up.

  • The Salty Rooster has four bedrooms and sleeps eight, so everyone gets room, and it has a fire pit, which matters more than it sounds when you're coming back from an early show with the evening still in front of you.

Where the theatres are from the Ocean Lakes gate

Ocean Lakes sits on South Kings Highway, a few miles south of the Myrtle Beach city limits, near where Highway 17 Business meets Dick Pond Road. That position is the whole argument for staying here if live entertainment is the reason you're coming.

Go north on 17 and you're into the strip of theatres and big-room venues: the Carolina Opry, the Alabama Theatre, Legends in Concert, the Palace Theatre, House of Blues, Medieval Times, Pirates Voyage. Broadway at the Beach sits about six miles up, which in practice is ten to fifteen minutes depending on how badly summer traffic is behaving on 17. The Boardwalk and the SkyWheel are a little further along the same run.

Go south instead and you reach the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, which is where we send people who'd rather have a band on a deck over the marsh than a ticketed show, and Brookgreen Gardens beyond it. The Market Common, with its restaurants and shops, is roughly the same distance as Broadway in the other direction. Closer to the gate: Surfside Bowling is barely a mile out, Jurassic Mini Golf a few miles, and Big Air Trampoline Park sits between them for the afternoon when the beach has lost its appeal.

One practical note on show nights. Curtain times push you out of the house around the dinner hour, which is exactly when 17 is at its worst in July. Leave earlier than feels necessary and eat on the other end.

The golf cart is the thing people underestimate

Ocean Lakes is close to a mile of Atlantic beachfront with twenty access points, and a campground of that size is not a place you want to walk across twice a day. Most of our homes include a complimentary golf cart for drivers twenty-five and up, and a few include two, which is the detail that quietly decides how a week goes when half the group wants the beach and the other half wants the Game Center.

Two carts come with the four-bedroom that sleeps eleven and with the pet-friendly four-bedroom on the large lot, which also takes the dog. The cart does not take you to the Alabama Theatre, obviously. It takes you to Sandy Mart for ice, to Meet 'n Eat for breakfast, to the beach access nearest your house, and on the slow evening loop around the campground that is, for a lot of families, the actual memory of the trip.

What's inside the gate on the days you're not at a show

You won't book a full week of theatre, and the campground is what fills the gaps. Sandy Harbor Water Park runs seasonally, with the Adventure River, waterslides, the mat racer and the smaller pools for little kids. There's a Game Center, a Recreation Center, oceanfront playgrounds, basketball and volleyball courts, shuffleboard, fishing, a skate park and bike rentals. Seasonal crafts and events run through the summer.

Worth checking before you book: the Sandy Harbor pools and mini golf are in the middle of a major rebuild, with the new indoor and outdoor pools and an expanded Game Center planned for 2027. Hours and openings across the campground shift with season, weather and that construction, so look at the current Ocean Lakes schedule for your dates rather than last year's.

If you want an indoor pool for your stay specifically, raise it with us directly rather than assuming it from a listing photo, because the campground's indoor swimming and any individual home's features are two separate questions.

Rain, dogs, and the other things that decide it

Every house here comes with a full kitchen, linens on made beds, wifi, air conditioning and a washer, so the usual packing anxieties don't apply. What varies between homes is the stuff that actually shapes a week.

  • Travelling with a dog. Our pet-friendly options include the four-bedroom with the limo golf cart, which sleeps nine. The limo cart seats enough people that you stop making two trips.

  • Water instead of sand. The waterfront four-bedroom on Sandlapper Lake looks out over the lake rather than the ocean, and comes with two carts. Quieter position, and the fishing is right there.

  • A big group that wants the southern end. The Deep Blue sleeps twelve across five bedrooms, sits in the quieter southern section, and is 192 steps from the beach. Somebody counted.

  • Kids who need the house to be an event. The pirate-themed house has five themed bedrooms, ocean views from the upper deck, and a remodel that adults don't have to tolerate for the kids' sake. No pets in that one.

  • Towing something. The four-bedroom at MH125 has trailer parking and a covered porch, which is a rarer combination inside the campground than you'd guess.

How to book, and what to ask us

We're a family-owned, licensed property manager working on-site inside Ocean Lakes, and you book direct with us and skip the fees. That's not a slogan, it's the reason to call rather than filter a listing site: we know which of these houses are free on your dates and which one fits a group of nine with a dog and a Tuesday show ticket.

Things worth settling on the phone or in the booking notes: how many carts come with the house and who in your group is over twenty-five with a licence, whether the home takes pets and under what conditions, how the beds divide across the bedrooms for your exact headcount, and what's running at Sandy Harbor during your week. Campground rules apply to every guest, including the golf cart ones, and they're easier to read before you arrive than at the gate.

If you tell us which shows you've got tickets for and what nights, we'll tell you which house makes the drive least annoying.
